We
cannot talk about Fasting and not deal with sin. Every fast in which I have
been involved in one of the first things
the spirit of the Lord deals with is sin and repentance. Why? Sin separates us
from God and sin can cause all sorts of blockages in our life.
There are consequences of SIN.
We are held responsible for our own actions.
Sin
caused Adam and Eve to be alienated from God and in turn miss out on so many blessings but thank God through the resurrected power of Jesus Christ we are able to be restored to him and walk free from sin.
59 Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it
cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 2 But
your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid
his face from you, that he will not hear. Isaiah
59:1-2
Sad but true...
Life can cause our Garments to be stained. Yes! Our hearts may be dirty because of the cares of the world, adversity, afflictions, divorce, pain, rejection etc. If not handled properly our pain can turn into sin but it still stems from a heart issue.

If we remain in Sin... many of the God ordained blessings for our lives can be blocked!
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is
tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them
that love him. 13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God
cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust,
and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin,
when it is finished, bringeth forth death. 16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
James 1 12-16
SIN CAN CAUSE YOU TO SIN. SIN
BEGETS MORE SIN.
For
example, a lie will easily yield another lie. Another example is if someone
does wrong to you and you do not deal with it, it can turn into unforgiveness,
which can in turn cause you to sin in other areas such as bitterness, hate and
anger. “I would not have sinned (IF)”! There is cause and effect in the spirit
realm. Sin does beget Sin. For example, if a drunk driver kills someone’s child
this could create a situation for the parents of the child to start harvesting
feelings of anger and bitterness. Whereas, before this occurred they may not
have been angry or bitter individuals. If not properly dealt with that anger
and bitterness can turn into sin, therefore blockages can occur.
That is
why it is imperative that we fill our lives with fasting and prayer and time
spent in the word of God. Fasting and Prayer allows us to release things to God
and in turn cleansing takes place.
Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119:11
Fasting, in many instances, will be the tool God will use to come along and clean the dirty garments.
Many times our natural homes and spiritual homes are in need of cleansing. A home that has anger, hatred, and bitterness can be sensed in the atmosphere just as one that is filled with love and peace. Are you creating an environment where the Holy Spirit and the Holy Angels can dwell OR is it one that is ruled and run by chaos and disorder that breed and atmosphere where demons are constantly being drawn?
Ask God these
questions....
Keep
these things before the Lord while you are fasting. Remember, the
revelation that you receive about what could be hindering
you from stepping into your breakthrough could be the vital insight
you need to become free in the area you are seeking freedom.
Ask yourself
these questions…
What’s holding me back?
What’s stealing my Joy?
What’s keeping me from rising?
What’s stifling me?
What’s smothering me?
In what area do I feel bound?
I want you to write them down and be very honest with
yourself!
While you are on the fast for those of you who are fasting, ask God to break these things off
you.
Christ gives us Power of Sin!
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace
may abound?2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live
any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were
baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore
we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up
from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in
newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the
likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing
this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be
destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that
is dead is freed from sin. Romans 6 1-7
There is nothing like knowing there is a blessing in store for you but you not being able to tap into the blessing because of sin. I encourage you today to look within, be honest with yourself and confess. Christ is waiting to come in and clean you up so that you will be able to freely tap into what is rightfully yours!
